1997 Dodge Stratus

Dodge successfully penetrates the crowded auto market with the Stratus. This
car is affordably priced yet it offers generous space, excellent handling, impressive
powertrain, comfortable interior and attractive looks. It wears a low beltline
and expansive glass like Honda’s. It dons Chrysler's cab-forward design with the
wheels pushed to the far comers of the car. Two trim levels are offered for this
year's Sedan: the base and the ES model, with wide array of features and engine
and transmission choices.
New exterior colors, Dark Chestnut and Deep Amethyst, are also one of the highlights
to this year’s Stratus. Improvements to the 1997 Stratus focused on reducing interior
noise and enhancing the vibes from the audio system by placing better radio, cassette
and CD players. Added features include a full center console with storage, coin
holder, rear cup holders and armrest. Standard to all the models is the 2L 4 cylinder132-hp
engine. This Stratus engine is the first to be mated with a five-speed manual
transmission. Other engines offered are 2.4 L 150-hp four and 168-hp V6 engine,
with the V6 topping the line. The first is matched with a full-adaptive four-speed
automatic while the V6, with four-speed AutoStick automatic transmission.
